Someone in another post suggested some modern tanks ie. Abrams M1A1. I'd definitely be on board for several of those but only if they were to scale, either 1/48 or 1/43. Or, modern artillery, again in scale.

Die Cast ...................Abrams M1A1 Tanks in 1:48 scale would be top sellers!

Don't forget the Bradley's. The Abrams, Bradley's and Patriots would allow for a very nice modern military train
I have zero interest in modeling modern stuff as my layout takes place in WW2. That said, I have always had an interest in any military vehicles...
Making that prime mover would be good, so that you could easily make PLS and HEMMT wrecker/tanker/CBT (bridging) variants from the same type of frame and cabs:
I had to be rated on driving everything we had in our unit among my many extra duties, and I loved driving this type of vehicle most of all as it provided excellent view while looking forward. With the wrecker, you could get within inches of something without hitting it.
Someone offered to sell a PLS rig to me recently, for not all that much money. My wife, naturally shot down that idea very quickly.
The problem in modeling these trucks as they are now, though, is that all these have armored cabs and they don't have this look anymore.
patiently waiting for someone to request a Filet cut of beef at a McDonalds double cheeseburger price...
P51, Darn wives. Sometimes they tend to spoil all of our fun!!

Yeah, sometimes, but I couldn't blame her much, as that PLS would have cost more than the new SUV I just bought last month.
And besides, she's been quite supportive of my 1:1 toy in the garage (this shot was taken in the back yard):

That's a M1A2, and one of the earlier models of it, as the newer ones have enhanced skirt armor and remote operated belt-fed weapons on the turret so the TC and the loader dot have to open their hatches to engage soft skin vehicles and dismounts...
One of the things that drives me nuts about people modeling tanks on flat cars, is that they model them with the belt-fed light weapons still mounted on the turrets. Those weapons are removed at all times in transit.
P51, I am guilty of leaving everything on my tanks while being transported on my flat cars. You never know when you gotta roll em straight off the car and into battle. No time to remount everything. LOL

I'm the same way with mine - always need to be ready for a battle!

LOL yep.. My flats with tanks are fully battle ready. Nobody removes anything. My world, my rules

Now THAT is what I would love to see Menard's offer; a decent looking MB/GPW in scale. I'd love to have a flatcar with mine and three others that I have painted/lettered/worked on that belong to friends. I'd just repaint with the GCI spray I use and make the decals to replicate the four.
MBT/Bantam trailers would be icing on the cake too. I *just* finished my MBT trailer Sunday.
Actually, a company named, "Victoria" makes an excellent 1/43 scale MB/GPW...
Thanks for the heads up, but would I need to take out (another; I already did so to buy Combat rims!) loan to buy a flat cars worth, or are they reasonably priced?
I considered the (Tamiya I think?) 1/48 models, but, the problem is, my trains are packed away between January and November, so, they need to be diecast or hearty plastic, especially since I have many little ones coming by during the holidays to enjoy the Christmas layout, not to mention a psychotic "Catzilla" who thinks it's great fun to wait until I go to bed and rearrange things like trees, details, people, and vehicles into separated piles. All except the people; "A.C." lines those up on the track side by side. She's a sick little cat. She does LOVE her Jeep though, and I have a Hallmark GPW ornament that, like my real MB, she has laid claim to it. It is HERS, and every time I see the layout, it's posed in a different spot. When she's mad though, and one of the trains stops or goes on the ground, I have to look to see where she set it on the tracks just to live up to her name.

If you search on eBay, you can find plenty of them like this one, generally between $25 and $35. I have found them for far less. In fact, I have an extra one I'm not sure I'll do anything with as I already have three good Jeep models. Two are parked on a decent-sized section of Marsten matting, and a third usually can be seen on a flatcar with wheel chocks permanently installed just for it, which can be seen in the foreground here. Note the windshield cover, which I made with tissue paper, glue and OD green paint:
I have a 3/4-ton Weapons Carrier (still needing paint and weathering) and a Command Car, each made by the same company (Victoria). I think each should fit on a flatcar as well, but they weigh a bit compared to the Jeep models.
Speaking of combat rims, I was lucky in that my MB came with 5 of them when I bought it, but one was of course warped a little. I bought one later at a show for less than 75 bucks and that's my spare today on my Jeep...
