I'm getting ready to try and sell some stuff.
Does anyone have a good source for buying inexpensive packing peanuts?
Or to expand the topic, other types of inexpensive packing materials?
Thanks.

May I suggest you place a free ad in your local Craigslist?
I have done this three times and each time I picked up (for free) garbage bags full of peanuts from people.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to selling, but I have also been buying, and have a huge stockpile of used peanuts, bubble wrap, foam sheet, and even old newspaper. I save it all, especially the good boxes.
For as low tech and old school as newspaper is, it still works very well as filler, so long as the outer box is strong. The goal is to keep the contents from shifting within that outer box.
I have a friend that works at a auto parts store that keeps me well supplied with peanuts and bubble wrap.
We use to get our peanuts from motorcycle repair shops. A lot of their parts came packed in them. They would save them for us and I would pick them up every Friday morning.
Popcorn. Seriously. But hold the butter.

Got mine from http://www.containerstore.com/welcome.htm Don't know if there are any in your area, natch.
Specifically, these. In fact, I still have a couple of nice-sized bags of 'em looking for a good home

If you're in southern Arizona, drop by and pick up a couple of bags full. I put them in big trash bags, keep a few in case I need them, and donate the rest to a local charity that uses them to pack stuff for shipment to Third World countries.
Thanks everyone for your replies. You have some really good ideas for me to check out.
I'm with the others, I keep them when stuff comes in. I have boxes of them in the attic, and when selling season comes around, they start coming back down.
Newspaper works great as well. I actually weigh the items and the empty box. If I'm just over the pound threshold, I normally use newspaper, since we have an unlimited supply. If I'm close to the pound limit, I use the lighter peanuts, save a bit on shipping.
I was gonna say "eBay" is a good source, but my buying is way down...I take excess
boxes out to the recycling center, and they cringe if I mention plastic peanuts...they
do not want to see them...
I buy two engines for each one that I sell.....never run out of peanuts that way!
