Had a great time at the BIG E in Springfield today spending some time with my old train friends and meeting a couple of new ones! Just picked up a couple of things like a new NAVY car for the set I'm working on and a new Miller sign.

Hi Chris, glad you're enjoying it, also some nice items you picked up.
Thanks for sharing, Alex
Thanks Alex. You should try to make the trip next year.
Well we go to the car to drop the purchases off and head over to the Red Rose. Where is Jim There iss no Jim. Andddd there is no jacket on Vinny Vinny is ok until the 18 degrees starts getting him crazy No Jim Not answering the phone
The boxes are even getting cold
Ok there had to be a group hug to warm Vinny up
Then off to the Red Rose some pretty good food with friends
We had to drag Sticky out of the Mardi Gras to get a pic
A good time was had by all
I agree it was a great show and great to see our OGR family members!
Nice pic of my Back.
I'm in the dog house, I spent way to much money.
Great time by all, nice talking to everybody, great meal at Red Rose.
WOW! And I just saws the HO Rapido one today and was mezmorized!
Here are a bunch of assorted shots that I took today. Crowds were nice, plenty of train stuff to see as well as many forum members. It was a great day.
Looks like everyone had a great time! I'll have to try and make it up there one of these years.

Great pics guy's. I'll be on board for dinner next year!
Great pictures and a lot of fun. Dinner at the Red Rose is now an annual event (this is the second one for me).
And to top it off, I got a couple of new toys. Which I didn't even have to sneak into the house. I wonder when Sue is going to the jewelry store? Probably when the temperature gets above 20.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. Sorry for starting a new thread before seeing this one

Wow, so many great products and layouts; hard to absorb it all in an afternoon! I picked up my first Williams locomotive:
While I always enjoy myself at the Big "E"; it seemed to me this year that there wasn't as much O scale to be found.
While there may not be an over abundance of O gauge motive power and rolling stock at the show (at least newly released items), the show in my opinion is great for "idea shopping" and product awareness knowledge. The plethora of high quality modular layouts in all scales is amazing. The representation of exhibitors from the "cottage industries" (lesser known, low or non advertised hobbyists) is overwhelming. Perhaps not known for producing items for O gauge, their ideas are free. Plus in a lot (thanks Dotty) of cases you can speak with the actual representatives of the products. For me, not needing much in the way of either engines or rolling stock (but always on the lookout) the show can easily be a two day event.
This was the custom painted Burro crane that I should have purchased but did not. I had bought a crane tender at Grzbowski's and it would have been perfect with the burro. Oh well.
Chris, Don, Ben,
What great photo's you guys all took, I felt like I was there. Looks like a wonderful time I'll be there next year.
Alex
Anything new or noteworthy at the Atlas booth?
NO, in fact it was lacking to say the least. More of their other scales than O

Then why did I walk out with a engine I never intended to purchase? My wife is so going to kill me.
The hobby store with the most product has to go to B&F out of Rhode Island. Past few years they have had the best amount of product on hand. It was them that got me to fork over my money at this show.
Second goes to Weaver for having their new B&M Pacific on hand. Convinced me to order one from B&F Hobbies.
Gary, you said, "Then why did I walk out with a engine I never intended to purchase?"
That's called an "impulsive purchase", especially when you already have that same type of engine that you now have listed for sale. Unfortunately I'm afraid that a lot (thanks Dotty again) of us have fallen prey to that kind of behavior. Just some of us might have a little more constraint when dealing with the kind of dollars you are talking about. Enjoy your new purchase................................PLEASE!
Don,
I have the guy's card, so if you REALLY want the NH crane....
I think Chris got the sub car from the same guy...RGS Trains?
Everybody Else,
Enjoyed the day and hanging out with a lot of train "experts"... the Red Rose makes some great food! Great way to finish the day!
Ed
Thanks Ed.
Here is the ash pit crane I forgot to show you. I ordered it from Crescent Locomotive Works.
Crescent is the best.
From the Amherst Railroad Society:
Total attendance was 20,557 for our 2013 show! Thank you everyone for coming. We hope you had fun!
Thanks, fellows, for all the good photos. I think this has to go on my bucket list.
Thanks for all of the pictures. Good to see everyone.
