I've contacted MTH Customer Service already and await a reply.  In the meantime, I thought I would post this oddity to see if anyone else has encountered it in their newest diesels and ask if Gunrunnerjohn or GGG would please comment with their ASC insight.

My new 2019 v1 Premier GP-40 Rocky Mountaineer (20-21141-1) has six odd softkey features loaded within the first ten positions.  They seem to be specific to the older Coors train and to pantograph units.  They're inserted in the 1,2,3,5,7 and 8 positions disrupting the usual order of features one sees on PS-3 diesels.  Here's the list with the odd features in red.  My question to MTH was whether I can just simply delete the six or do I need a software reload.  I think the former, but if Gunner or George have recommendations, I'd appreciate their thoughts.

Thanks

Bryan

Looks like the wrong sound file is loaded, that's the only thing I can think of.  Did you try a factory reset using the DCS system?

If all the other sounds are there in the menu, just move the ones you want to the top and move those to the bottom.  I've never seen that issue with antique sounds, maybe that means they're making a new Coors train.   Maybe they serve Coors on the Rocky Mountaineer!

John, thanks for your reply.

I had just done the factory reset which worked and came back up only to see your reply.  Guess I was too late to delete the post!  Lol!  The odd files disappeared and the remaining diesel files lined up as normal.  Go figure.

I was so puzzled about seeing the oddities my brain disengaged from the reset solution for about 20 minutes.  "Oh, wait, what if...(works DCS remote)...hmmm...well, how about that."

I appreciate your time and reply.  I've seen a wrong sound file before but never one mixed with files from two distinctly different other trains.  Other than the six odd ones, the rest of the files and PFA are appropriate to the RM excursion.

I like Coors and I like Canadians, but they and the RM probably regard Adolph's fine product as a bit lite for their tastes!

Thanks again.

I just finished a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer.  If one of the sound files is the hostess asking if you would like another bourbon on the rocks, let me know.  I’ll buy one and relive my dream vacation on my layout.

Wouldn't that be nice!

The 20-21141-1 sound file is for the Coastal Passage route between Seattle and Vancouver.  The rest of it is "This stop is Vancouver" or Kamloops, etc.,  and the old standard "watch your step" and "let me help you with your baggage" stuff.  Disappointingly, there's no unique sounds for or commentary about the Rocky Mountaineer other than the named route for the train.  It does have the new SPW playable diesel horn feature.

The other new 2019 v1 RM GP-40 (20-21099-1) sound file may have something different and specific for the RM, but the MP3 file is not up yet (if?) on its support page.

I do know the first RM GP-40 from 2017 v2 (20-20838-1) only has freight sounds...yep, seriously, it does...

And apparently, the RM logo placard that goes on the front handrails of the lead engine was not considered by MTH.  Small but a significant omission imho for Premier models of such a specialized train.

I guess I'll have to try to make it and the vestibule cover logo for the tail end generator car.  But, hey, a close Rocky Mountaineer in O gauge!
