For those of you looking for a paint to match factory yellow paint from Atlas and Lionel...

Rust-oleum gloss golden yellow

(note: the front handrails of the GP20 were painted with Testor's gloss yellow paint pen)

It takes a loooong time to dry; I let it sit overnight and it's still soft.

Finding an off-the-self color that matches the paint on the cars/engines is great and posting it is even better.  Thanks.

Unfortunately I need to get rid of my yellow handrails since the PRR in the 40s used black or the same color as the car/engine.  Matching the freight cars is my problem, since each manufacturer used a different shade of brown/red.  I like CENTRALFAN's idea but it seems expensive for just a few cars.

A cross over from our friends in the R/C auto racing hobby... they have a line of paint that is flexible enough to withstand the slings and arrows of their sport.  Perfect for our handrails.  No, I don't know the brand name, but I'll bet somebody here does, or else you can ask at your local full service hobby shop.

What I notice is you reference Krylon, but show Rustoleum paint.  So which is it?  I have had nothing but grief with any Rustoleum product, mainly with staying tacky and forever to dry.  My preference is Krylon, quick dry time, and easy to use from rattle can.

Sorry. You are correct.

And yes, it takes a long time to dry. I did these before I left on Tuesday, we'll see how they are when I get home.

Been 5 days and stil soft.

I think I'm going to have to replace the Atlas handrails with brass wire, it's just too thick, especially when compared to the Lionel.

That's the only problem I found with the Rustoleum paint. You need to use primer first and apply several light coats or it goes on too thick..  Before you go out and buy wire. See if you can reuse the wire from the MTH GP20 that You used cut up for the project.  The handrail wire is a lot thinner and easier to work with.
