A number of them just because I liked them. I only run Milwaukee Road but I bought a K-line scale Hudson, brass SP cab forward, brass SP Daylight, and a brass Pennsylvania T-1. Just because I like the looks. Don
Sure, occasionally. My "collecting", if you want to dignify it, tends to be old 2-rail, O-scale
locos and cars. Many of these are interesting and "historic" in our little world, and are
often cheap or cheap-ish. I have a Scale-Craft NYC J1 Hudson from the 1940's, for example. Outside third rail. Total shelf queen. A Varney(?) NYC H-10 Mikado - which I did have running on my 3-rail layout with ERR Cruise Commander installed. But, not sure-footed enough. So the ERR went somewhere else.
The cars I sometimes convert to 3-rail (Weaver trucks usually do it). I also get a real
kick out of finding early Hi-rail models - scale models with PW Lionel trucks on them -
and the trucks were put there in the 40's or 50's.
And my NYC Hudson all-scales collection is complete except for N and OO.
Someone said that buying a loco for display only is a "waste of money".
I disagree completely. (Well, this entire hobby - like most hobbies - is a "waste of money".)
