Help identify this set....UPDATE Now w/ pictures and more info!

I has to be between 1953-63. I checked my books and can't find anything. Sorry, not much help.

The 6112 gondola was made from 1956 -1958. Also the cars have AAR style trucks which places it starting in 1957.

There was only one set that had the 6014 Baby Ruth car and that was the 1954 set 1513S. The following was in the set: 2037, 6026T, 6012 Black Gon, 6014 red Baby Ruth, 6015 yellow Sunoco 1D, 6017 SP type caboose. It wasn't uncommon for dealers, back in the day, to swap cars in sets.

To clarify there was only one set that had a 2037 and a 6014.

My source tells me that the 2037 and 6026W tender were paired together in sets from 1957 to 1960. There is a 1958 set #1603W. This set had the cars mentioned plus a #6424 flat with autos and a #6818 transformer car.

Hard to tell by the pictures, on who made the pair of switches that were included in some sets.

No way those Sakai switches were in the Lionel box as packed by Lionel.

Seems I remember that being a Western Auto set, am I wrong, and those switches were a cheap replacement for 027 sets by some dealers.

I had a similar set I picked up in the 60;s or 70;s, but later traded off, set box and all and Japanese switches too.

Aaaah, the Sakai switches. Brings back many good memories, mainly because I never used mine.

Sometimes it is good NOT to try something.
