Hello all,
I have an American Flyer Prewar #1218 on my bench,
is there any information on the web that would have schematics, I know they are pretty basic but this one seems like it is missing something,
Also , the brushes appear to be secured to two strips, are the brushes replaceable.
any insight would be appreciated

As for the brushes, MEW used to make them. Hennings Trains, a forum sponsor, has just acquired MEW, so they may have some.
As to the schematic, perhaps someone on the forum will be able to help you with that. I have had forum members provide this type information in the past.

He repaired some similar brushes for me on an Ives motor years ago. Still runs great.
If your arms are in good shape, you could try soldering brushes on yourself.
