I now have all of my track down on my layout. I am using MTH Realtrax. I just installed 2 uncoupler/unloading tracks MTH #40-1008.

After much work and effort to make sure all the track and switches are line up correctly, I then ran a test engine (Railking 0-8-0)and cars to make sure that everything is working correctly. So far so good. Cars uncoupled and dump cars dumped.

I then fired up my MTH VO1000, #30-2752-1. The engine stalls at the uncoupler track. The trucks on the lead in jump up slightly and the wheels spin. I have to give it a shove, and then the back truck hangs up.

At first I thought the spring that hangs down from the coupler on the engine is dragging on the magnet. Then I notice that the magnet sits slightly higher than on the other uncoupler track. Ran the engine of the second uncoupler, did a little better, but still hangs up at slow speed.

I lowered the magnet on the first uncoupler track, ran the engine over it and it was a little better, but the trucks still jump up slightly and will hang up causing the engine to stall.

As I looked at it closer, I now think that the rollers may be the problem, that they do not retract far enough into the truck frame, thus causing the engine to hang up.

Has anyone ever experienced this issue? It appears to only happen with the VO1000.

I ran my MTH 2-8-0, Lionel GP9 and no issues. I have not tested it with my MTH F3's or my Milwaukee Hiawatha 4-6-4. I think the SD24 may be OK too.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

RAY

MTH Realtrax track pretty much is bad. That aside, I had the same problem with the magnets. Took a file to them to lower the top so the rollers on some engines did not pop up.

Simple fix that should not have had to have been done, but such is life and the hobby.

Best of luck w/ yours, play with them and you will get things right.
