I was in WalMart today and happened to look at the Xmas decorations. They have some nice "Dept.56" style buildings on display for Xmas. Maybe a wee bit small for O gauge but put them further in the back. They are lighted, nice figures etc. Only $15 each which today isn't bad. One thing that really caught my eye was a nice merry go round. It was a bit higher priced.

I had bought a bunch way back in the 90's for my mom. She really enjoyed them under the Christmas tree with the train running around them. I am going to have to dig them out after I finish my Christmas tree layout(construction) as some of the buildings were going on there in memory of mom. She would have loved this coming Christmas I'm sure.
That is a good price and are good to fill a scene, but I'd rather spend a few bucks more for the more detailed Lemax. With the December sales, you can find many Lemax buildings for $25 or less new.
But you can't beat $15 buildings that you don't have to time sales for and are readily available at any Walmart. And they really are a decent value for the price. Especially when the lights are turned off and it's all about making the total scene.
I might go to Wally World tomorrow and get me a merry-go-round. I think they are $20 but not sure.
