I would like to see this engine made once more.  I am not sure that it has been done in scale.  Perhaps 3rd Rail would do it if there were enough interest,my first choice.  Then Lionel with the newest technology.  Is anybody else interested in this streamlined K4?

Norm,

Weaver's in 3-rail can be had on eBay for $450 or so if you're patient.  Boxcar Bill can do an Electric RR conversion with cruise and you'll LOVE the way it runs!

James,

The Williams model is the "bullet nose" streamlining that PRR applied to 4 of the K4s locomotives in 1940.  The one and only "torpedo" streamlining was given to #3768 in 1936.

Here is a picture of the Weaver Torpedo.  The fairing over the drivers is removable on the Weaver, and I removed it on my model.  This has been upgraded with PS-2.

This is how it looked in the late 1940s.  Since my layout is set in 1949, I plan to "weather" mine to look like this.

No, this one is one of the four streamlined K4s that were designed and built in the PRR shops in 1940. They pulled the other PRR "name trains", and once in a while, one pulled the Broadway Limited. I have this Williams brass model, and think this one looks much nicer than the 1936 Loewy designed one.

If you are running TMCC why not set up to adjust track power with a TPC? This way you can run any MTH loco in conventional with TMCC.

IMHO, you are missing out by passing the MTH for the Weaver brass. I have the Postwar version of the K4 that Mike just released in it is by far my new favorite locomotive. The sounds and look of it are beyond fantastic. I only saw pictures of the streamlined version but i was really temped to pick it up. Probably will in the future.

But, thats just my 2 cents. You should always go with what YOU like.
