I recently bought a mainly displayed, seldom run PS 3.0 Aero train set with five additional coaches from a forum member. When it arrived without the engine front truck wheel frame covers shown in the photo above I called Midge at MTH parts and ordered a pair. When I asked her she said she believed they just snapped onto the side frames.
I received them today (pictured below) without instructions on how to install and attach them but it appears they don't snap on as Midge said but instead must be screwed into place.
I checked the engine's manual and also online at MTH for either instructions or an installation diagram about attaching these wheel covers but couldn't find either. Was there an addendum I didn't receive which was included with Aero train sets explaining how to mount these wheel covers? If such an addendum of mounting instructions or a mounting diagram exists would someone post it here or explain how to attache these covers?
Looking at the photos below showing the left side cover it looks like it might be screwed onto the top of the wheel frame? (I'm thinking this because of the apparent screw holes located on the top of the fender skirt.) If these skirts are screwed onto the trucks, how do I access the top of the front wheel truck to attach the fender skirt? Should I remove the engine shell? Advice on how to attach these truck frame covers is definitely needed.
Btw, if they're screwed on, are the screws required for attaching them already in place on the engine's front wheel truck or are they extra screws Midge should have also had me order? Any assistance in explaining how to install these is greatly appreciated.
