I signed in and posted on the thread about how often one visits the site and found that I could no longer sign out. I was previously able to click on my photo at the top right or the gear next to it. Then a small drop down menu would have a link to sign out. Now when I click on the photo or the gear I get a list of my forum activity.

Is this a change or a malfunction?

I like to sign out in case someone else uses my PC. They can read but they can't post.

When I click on my avatar or the gear at the top right edge of the screen I am taken to an OGR page that is labeled as my "Activity Stream" so I am fairly certain it is not my PC. On the Activity Stream page I can see every post I ever made in chronological order.

What I was thinking. I rarely shut off my computer, maybe every few months when a reboot might be necessary for a software upgrade. I always have a browser window open with six or seven tabs of sites I read regularly. I am probably shown as signed in on a half dozen sites for months at a time.

We really don't have to sign off because when we leave the sight the servers can see that our "cookies", or "Click Screen", or what ever has left the building.

Now, when we come back on site and hit a key said server will see your tag and know your there.

When I connect from work they can see me automaticlly, I know this because I can post without signing on. But, when I connect from home my fire-wall blocks my cookies so they don't know who I am. I know this because I always have to sign on before I can post from that computer. After I sign on a small avatar of yours truly pops up. When I come onto this sign on page from home there is a "SIGN_ON" GUI that I have to click. See "HOT WATER" above for sign off procedure.

I am using Chrome. Hovering gives me the options.

If I try IE8, I see a msg at the top that my browser is unsupported, use others...plus IE8 & 9 is on the list.  No gear/avatar to hover over.

Of course, I opened IE w/o signing out from Chrome.

Perhaps I can not be logged on w/ 2 dif browsers at the same time...too lazy to find out, sorry.

If someone has to know, I will test it.

Mario,

I could be wrong, but the few times I found that I "could not reply with quotes" was when I forgot and opened the site with IE, instead of Chrome.....IE did not have me as logged in. And if one is not logged in, even the reply option is gone.

It seems chrome keeps me logged in. Since I rarely use IE anymore, it does not have me logged in when I open it. I said above, I am too lazy to try to see what happens if I log out of chrome and then back in using IE.

But if you get on mainly from work, you might want to experiment and see what happens in the event you are using two browsers (or even two computers, one home, one work,) from time to time.

Good luck. Greg
