I don't think they are as good as in years past. For me, once I started attending York that was it. No other shows come close.

TrainDork,
Usually their shows that are held in the winter and spring are the best. Their shows held in the summer not nearly as good. Best thing to do is to attend. When you leave the show to come home you will have your answer. I never had a bad time at any train show.
Greenberg puts on a great show with tasbles of trains for sale and layouts of all scales for the families who attend. They do a ride-on trian for the kids and aim the shows as well for kids.
We do the Greenberg show in Edison, NJ 3 times a year running Legacy, TMCC and DCS trains continously and enjoy the weekend. It brings in a good crowd and they do plenty of advertising as well.
I have been to Greenberg shows in Phila (way back), Oaks, Fort Washington, King of Prussia, Wilmington, Reading, Timonium, Edison, York, Aston (disaster), Lancaster, and Virginia Beach. They all beat staying home and "shopping" on the computer.
This is the first Greenburg show to come to the fairgrounds in Syracuse. I live in Watertown which is 80 miles away and it is well worth the drive as we do not have many shows on this scale to go to.

ok ok i believe i will be going to the show now. i could use a day off from my life anyways and what better day off then a day off at a train show.
I'm thinkin it depends where you live. They use to have one in our area(Novi)But after paying for parking and admission they used more space for running layouts than they did for tables so we quit going.

When the show came to my area, they charged extra to ride the train. It was not included in the admission price.
jim i live in syracuse. so it is not too bad for me.
Greenberg shows used to come down to Ft. Lauderdale FL about 20 years ago.
What happened? Did Greenberg turn chicken?
Also no more TCA meets in West Palm Beach FL.
Maybe it's me but it seems that south Florida is driving all the train shows away from it.

The twice yearly Greenberg show in Wilmington,Ma is defiantly not as good as it used to be. There used to be many more dealers and quality items up for sale. Now it is the same old same old. This show defiantly needs a shot in the arm on the O-Scale side.
Because of my work schedule I don't get to go to very many shows unles I take vacation time. For this reason it has been a few years since I was at a Greenberg show.
That said, I always have a great time when I do go. As stated above it's true that none of them are as cool as York, but most shows do not host all of the manufactures as does the TCA York meet.
The Greenberg shows are for buying those little things you may wont and simply having fun with toy trains and it's people.
They've been having Greenberg shows here in Pittsburgh since about 1978, and I think I've only missed 3 in all those years. They are decent shows, and they usually get a good turnout. They last show was especially busy. If things aren't what they used to be in your area, I suspect it is more a reflection on the hobby rather than the show promoters. It is also a social event...many of my train buddies show up, and we have a good time talking. I usually spend about $70-100/show. No, its not York but its still a good time, and I don't have to pay for a hotel room as I do in York!
Hi Neal, yea but you guys have Monroeville, or at lest I think that's what it's called. In any case I was there once when I was in the area and that was a very big show. I called it York LITE.
