Actually, I haven't been to a train show since the mid-80s, and back then it was only to show the layouts to the kids. I never shopped for anything.
I've participated in several auctions and made quite a few purchases. Some items, like the Lionel Texas Special set, I won at a great price. A few times, I got caught up in a bidding war and it cost me more that I really wanted to pay. Overall, auctions have increased my yearly allocation of funds for my hovbby. Will I stop, no way, I enjoy the hunt and the biding to buy something I missed buying when these items were initially released.
