There is so much to learn from reading the forums, with all the information you modellers offer. Very interesting and helpful. I am a rank rookie and appreciate the knowledge available. This is my second post.
I never post or reply.
Like Coal a few posts back I'm new to the hobby.
In mid-December I decided my grandson might enjoy playing with the old train sets. So I dug out my old 1958 Pennys 249 set and my fathers 1940's Lionel lines 1688. Started with a carpet loop in an unheated sun room (Cleveland in Dec, not my best idea!) then graduated to an old ping pong table balanced on a folding table still in the cold. I found I was enjoying myself as much or more than my grandson and made some room in the basement and built a base for the ping pong table and have started expanding my layout from a basic figure 8. I found the forum about a month after I started and have used it a resource when I run into issues. Every situation I've run into, someone else has had and the members have given great insight and I have found my solution. I have marveled at the layouts, gotten great ideas and have a wishlist miles long from the members. I read the forum daily and always come away with something. Thanks to all.
The interesting result has been at 56 years old, I've rediscovered an activity from my youth and last week I had my annual physical and blood tests and my blood pressure, heart rate and cholesteral numbers are better than they have been in years!

Dale:
I don’t post a lot but I read all of your posts. It’s great of you to provide part numbers, sources, photos, and pictorial schematics in your posts.
Thanks,
Bill
