How to Fix Roller Lateral Gaps? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have never seen this on engine rollers but I see it on a lot of caboose cars and passenger cars. The roller can shift side to side on the pin by about 1/16 of an inch or more. On my layout this causes the rollers to snag going through some of the switch combinations I have. My fix is to shim with a small piece of copper wire but there has to be a better way than that. Is there a circlip size or other technique that will work better? Someone out there must have a smart fix.

If the wire works dependably, it's fixed.

But - can the roller frame around the roller be pinched in with pliers? This depends on the frame and "bending room and tolerance" at the least.

Hardware stores carry clips in various sizes. Some fairly small.

Ah. There's the answer I was looking for. It is just one section with back-to-back switches so that should work pretty well. Thanks Rick.
