I've got four of these flatcars with covered loads and have removed and replaced the loads on each multiple times. The load has multiple small posts that insert into holes in the decking. They really aren't that difficult to remove, but you do need to be careful. I've taken mine off simply by pulling up on the load. I have purposly avoided using a screwdriver as I did not want to risk marring the wood decking.
Of course, if you think about it, having a damaged deck on a flatcar would be prototypical.
