We all operate on the internet at one time or another. OGR and other like train forums have the same issue as social media. I came across this on one of my forums on LinkedIn. I was already aware of this but I thought I would pass this on. Hopefully Rich wont delete this as it has some good information

According to the article, my exceedingly good looking profile picture would mean that my account is fake.
What does one stand to gain by creating a fake profile on OGR? That may be good advice for Linkedin, but I don't really see where it comes into play here.

This was just about passing on some information. I am real sure their are members that are part of professional networks or various social sites.
It's apples and oranges. There is no advantage to making a fake profile here. What purpose would it serve?
A spammer gets exposed here within 10 minutes when I get 50 alerts to the offending post. Someone who attempts to rip off people on the For Sale Forum won't get past his first deal before his reputation is known among the members here.
