I was changing the tires on one of the above F-3's and then I wanted to see what was beneath the fuel tank, thought maybe that was where they keep the battery, this is a Photo Sounds 2 locomotive, I pulled one of the screws from the tank and it dropped off the end of my screw driver and then fell into the cavity of the body.  I can hear it rattling around inside but can't seem to get to it to put it back in place.  I need to take the shell loose from the frame but not sure what screws I need to take out.

Does anyone have a copy of the book that came with the units that shows an exploded diagram of how they come apart or is it possibly the four screws, 2 up front and 2 in the corners of the back that I need to take off.   Also, any tips about removing the shell from the frame?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I also need to get them apart to check and see if they have any water damage to them because when I bought them the "Not so truthful" young lady that was selling them for her dad, didn't bother to tell me that they were stored in his basement and it had been flooded.  Imagine my surprise when I unpacked the box and found that the MTH box was pretty much wasted and water logged.  She said they ran but were they tested before she sold them, (big grin).  I'm sure they ran at some point in time but not sure if they were tested after the flood.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I'm learning very quickly how to work on the trains that I've bought.

Have a great week.

Look at the screws on the frame perimeter.

Some of them have built in washers - they look like a WW1 helmet. Those are the ones that hold the body to the frame. Those are the only ones you need to remove to get the body off.

And when you put the screws back in, turn them backwards until they click, then screw them in. They are self tapping screws, so if you force them back in, they will cut new threads in the plastic and eventually strip out the holes.

Better to go in easily and stay, than to go in hard and strip the plastic.

I want to thank Engineer Joe and RoyBoy for their great answers, the manuals will be a great help as they will give me a lot information that I don't have so I will put them to good use.  I'm anxious to see them run, hopefully.  RoyBoy, your description of the screws was right on the money, my engines have the shoulder washer type self starting/taping screws.  there are 4 on the engine, one in each corner of the frame, I eased them out and after I found the missing screw I was looking for and took pictures of everything attached to the frame, I put it all back together and I made sure like you mentioned about being careful so as not to strip the threads in the mount tower.  I'm now ready to take it to the club and try it out and hopefully have good success.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help and answers.
