Sadly, I Join Munoz Central with End of my Putnam Division train layout.
Some time back I had the opportunity to visit with “Scrapiron" Eliot Scher in his home in Carmel NY. It was a great pleasure to view his Munoz Central lines operation and we also plenty of time to talk about his baseball hobby and the fact that the long defunct NYC Putnam Division ran just a stone’s throw behind his beautiful home. I grew up in northern Westchester and named my trains “The Putnam Division”.
It is ironic that starting today, I began the demise of my Putnam Division and join Eliot in the emotional effort of dismantling years of beloved construction and operation. Lynn and I must move on with our lives while healty. Our home will soon be up for sale. We will downsize locally here in Venice Florida area.
Today I started by removing the overhead catenary system and a number of vignettes already spoken for by friends. Destruction of all the surrounding scenery is inevitable and a sad task but my target is to begin restoring the room within two weeks.
My attachment to the OGR forum remains. It has been a valuable resource for me through the years amd will follow and participate when I can. I will miss the dozens of visitors I have hosted here over the years but thank you all for the memories I will carry with me . All the photographs now become most important.
If You have not been here, you can see my Putnam Division here.
