Since most Amtrak train stations in California have palm trees for some odd reason, I decided it was time to plant two on my California layout next to my Lionel station that boasts a nice Pennsylvania RR sign as well as a small Amtrak sign on the left side in the photo:

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Santa Fe planted palm trees at many stations in California. They were a particular kind but I don’t remember which. In some cases the station building is gone but the palms remain to mark the location.

I can confirm that Palm trees were planted at Santa Fe stations. I pass this one everyday on my way to the kitchen...
