Today went as usual, got up,and played with my trains. I wanted to run my BNSF diesel on the outside loop, using fixed power. So I looked in the manual, and set he outer loop, which is normally for conventional mode, to DCS. I put my Diesel on the track, and It took off like a rocket!!!! Luckily I was able to hit the E-stop buttuon. However, the only way I can get my engine to run in DCS is on variable voltage now. I don't understand what went wrong. I ca hear a distinct buzzing sound in the engine and on the VAR-1 channel on the TIU. My other DC engines work fine on Fixed 1. Any and all help would be awesome, because I love this diesel.

Correction *DCS engines on fixed 1

Barry, I have checked both of these, and that all DCS signals are on. This is not the issue. I dont know why the engine freaks out and takes off with the dcs signal

The engine is proto 3

The thumbwheel is at zero, however, I cant even get to add the engine on the fixed track. as soon as I place it on the track, the motors take off. The track is configured for variable voltage now, and that is the only way I can run it.

Barry, I had initially used the AON softkey, but that did not work. However, now that I unplugged my TIU after resetting, everything is working fine now. I appreciate everyone's help.

hi you might have blown a fuse in the tiu unit open it up per instructions and replace the fuse on that Chanel auto type spade fuses.Originally Posted by Cleartracks01:

I'm not sure that it is the fuse, because my engines work under variable power on the var 1 output. However, I did get my engine to receive the DCS signal under fixed power on fixed 1

My other DC engines work fine on Fixed 1. Any and all help would be awesome, because I love this diesel.

I 'm guessing proto-3 can run on DC?? Turn the engine around? Are all the tiny switches in the right position. DCC. regular proto-3. DC?? 2/3 rail? Man! I'm lost on proto3.

Shouldn't this come up in neutral if the watch dog is  missed?

His second post indicates he meant DCS.

I would suggest making sure that your TIU is powered up either with aux power or that FIXED 1 has power while you are attempting to run using AUX 1. If the red light is not on, then you are just passing power through the TIU without a DCS signal and your engine is trying to run conventionally with 18volts as its starting speed.
