i PAD and lionel trains cab 2 - exclusive LCCA video

Very interesting!  I would like to learn more about the transponding possibilities.

I think using the ipad to run the layout makes sense.  I agree with Jon though that the Cab2 is a better device for running trains than an Ipad.

I played with this app and MTH iPhone/iPad app at York (This video seems to have been shot at Oct York and I think was posted here previously)

There was quite a long thread here about the pros and cons of both if you want to search back a few pages but basically both apps take a different approach. Lionels is designed to supplement the CAB2 whiles MTH's seems to aim to be a full substitute for the DCS handheld

Personally I prefer Lionel's approach and found MTH's app to be too many things to do on the screen at once, however it is a very powerful app

I think they should have announced it when it is ready for sale. Not just in  the trial stage. What other components will be needed to run it? How long before it is available? A lot more questions than answers!

Two thumbs up.  

Hope they include BASIC (speed/direction) engine/train control for the tablet device.  Not looking forward to doing a juggling act when running the traind.

Although a fundamental train control would be nice in the app, personally I really like the idea of having the Cab2 for train control and the iPad for layout control.

Really looking forward to this!
