Identity Of TMCC/Legacy Circuit Boards?

Bob, I think this engine has Odyssey I, not Legacy. The electronics will be worth more with the motor. Without the motor and its speed sensor the motor driver (DCDS) will not have much value.

Pete, good catch, it is Odyssey.

I'd have to keep the motor, I don't have anything to replace it with.  It's a huge Pittman motor, bigger than any Pittman I've seen.

I've got the boiler and tender shells off, there's a lot of electronics in this thing , both engine and tender are pretty much filled with it.

I didn't see the speed sensor, but haven't looked closely either.  Could it be on the underside of the motor instead of on top like MTH engines?

The motor has a flywheel with a gray magnet ring.  On the motor side of that magnet ring, you'll see a PCB under the flywheel, that's the sensor board.  You can take off the flywheel and remove the sensor board, the flywheel on the Pittman has set screws to remove it, very easy.

John, is the flywheel also the magnetic ring, I see it but I thought it was all flywheel?

Bob, It is TMCC with RailSounds 4.0.  Funny, the Lionel Website only list tender parts not motor.  If you need a PITTMAN brass flywheel, I have some.  Would allow you to remove the sensor and magnetic flywheel to go with motor driver.  All depends on what type of connection is used to drive gears?  Dogbone?  G

Thanks John, I bookmarked that page.  The flywheel on mine engine is painted black.  Thought it was all one piece, machined to that shape.

George, let me see how far I get with this and I'll give you a call about the flywheel.  With the way the dogbone and flywheel end (with cup) are made I might be better off ordering the Lionel part if I have to sell the flywheel with the electronics (or tell the buyer he has to buy it).

Once I take the electronics out of the boiler, I think the battery will fit in the space, maybe even the rest of the electronics I'll be using.  I'd still need a means to light a rear headlight LED so a tether of some type appears to be a necessity on steamers.  I've been using the MTH 10-pin plugs and tether but all I need is a 4 wires.

Same for me George, I then did a search on the engine type and picked it out of that list.  That sometimes works when the standard search doesn't find it.

George, here are your parts.  Your motor is a Pittman item number 6108080100.  John, your flywheel and dog bone numbers are correct.  If you need just the magnetic ring it is # 6108080128.  If anyone needs a magnetic ring, I would tell them to order a few.  They are dirt cheap and just about one size fits all.
