Hi all, as some of you may be aware, I'm involved with Darstaed. The company is wanting to improve the information flow to all customers around the world. To this end, David Upton, a regular here on the tinplate forum has come on board to look after the PR and advertising.

David is introducing a monthly news letter that will be emailed to  customers and those interested in what is happening at Darstaed. If you would like to be kept informed, send your email address to upton@darstaed.com

best wishes

Thanks Dave, that is great news. I have purchased many items from John Hoover since the fall York show last year. I just purchased some more from him last week at York. I think the main issue right now is that we need Darstaed to start shipping new product for us to purchase. I know they have a couple items scheduled to come out but just seems to take a very long time. PR news would be great and if they could update they website site more often. Even on YouTube, there is a ton of ACE videos and info but not a lot on Darstaed. Again thanks for the info, hope they can get new product out soon. Thanks, Frank

That's great Allan. I know that among US O gaugers there's a wish to see production returning from China, so you may be interested to know that we are working towards that too. Very soon, our  "Horton" vans will be on the market, they will be lithographed and assembled here in Australia, and our next mainline loco, the A1 Peppercorn "Tornado" will be assembled and QC'ed here by "The O Gauge Guy". This will be a very exciting project. As you may know, the Tornado was recently built in the UK, and the owners, the A1 Trust, have licensed Darstaed exclusively to build a 3 rail O gauge model. I also hope to have an Australian RTR train set, featuring Aussie companies and themes on the market this year.

When will Darstaed start the Marklin 40cm cars? I really want them. I wish they would do them as close to replica as possible. I remember the thread about putting plastic ABS roofs on them. To me, that would ruin the cars. Then I would only buy them if I could buy replacement steel tinplate roofs. Also, is there ever any mention of any manufacturer doing gauge 1 tinplate replicas? Like Marklin HR, CER German locos. Or CE British or PLM French locos? And Marklin cars? The 57cm passenger cars and the 1800 series double bogie freight cars are way expensive. I've heard here before "there just wouldn't be enough interest". Well look at ebay Germany and see what those trains bring in price. The company Hehr made some short runs of repros and those bring big money. I wish I had the capitol and/or connections. I'd do it. And I would make pleanty. I'm sure.

Hi Frank, John Hoover, myself and British distributors will all get the new locos at the same time. An A4 is on the production schedule, the A1 is also being presently being done. Darstaed is a small company, but they do make our trains in there own factory, and Both John Hoover and I will increasingly become involved in the manufacturing, testing and QC in our respective countries. Our competitor Ace, only make empty promises.

Dave,

I love this loco. I have a 30"X46" water-color of the Flying Scottsman in my trainroom. I must say that I'd gladly add the Tornado & consist to my collection if it has the European whistle. It would be lonesome surrounded by pre 1932 tinplate. I feel that this would be a good start. Please, keep us up-to-date as to what's going on.

I know Andries wants to do some European cars, after all, that's what Darstaed did, but, we are only a small maker, it will take time. To be honest, I think Gauge 1 is not on the horizon at the moment.
