I have a Lionel Legacy Crescent Limited steam engine.  After turning on track power, before putting in my engine number and pushing the engine on icon, the engine lights up and the train sounds start, but when I turn the speed control wheel nothing happens.  My train does not move. I have to keep on turning  the power off and on, and sometimes the engine will operate properly. I know when it will operate properly when I turn on the power and I don't hear any train sounds and the engine does not light up (then with the power on and there are no engine lights or sounds from the tender, I know it will work). When I turn on the power and do not start the engine with my remote, and the engine lights go on and the sounds go on, thenI know that I will not be able to move the engine with that try.

I have body canthis sound more complicated than it should be.  In simpler terms,19 times out of 20, when I turn on my track power, my engine will start up with sounds and lights even before I put in my engine number or pushed the start engine icon on y remote.  And one out of 20 this will not happen when I turn on the track power and I can operate it normally.

Hopefully somebody can help me.

I’m guessing your using some form of Lionel’s command control or Bluetooth. Can you describe your setup ?

Did the engine ever work properly and this is some new problem ?

Do you have other engines that run without issues on the same trackage ?

The fact that it does work at times. If your using a command base. Make sure it’s plugged into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
