Industrial Rail Trolley

Depending how old your trolley is, It may be a industrial rail by them or it may be by Atlas as it seems to me Atlas bought out industrial rail back a few years ago. 

The bottom of the base on trucks say: IDM by UMD, Inc.

Parts are unobtainium.    I will be doing an Under the Hood article on swapping out power trucks, probably after the holidays,  but I lucked into a couple of parts pull NOS trucks.  

Your best bet, frankly, is to order an Atlas IR trolley and swap the shells.    Good luck!

Yep, you have the original pre-Atlas version. UMD was United Model Distributors, once a major hobby supplier but now long gone.

Was there an electronics board inside for auto reverse?  When I opened it up - I didn't find any electronics and the wires were basically gone.  2 lights in the shell, pickups in 1 truck and a motor in the other... nothing else.

(raised eyebrow)  Huh!  Yeah, there's supposed to be an electronics board for the reverse, et cetera.  Here's one of my junk chassis, with the boards more or less in place.

Thanks for the photo's... very helpful.  I'm missing a lot of gear it would appear.  Looks like I get to be creative with what I do with this

Well, you can wire up a rectifier to run the motor, but hook it up to 12VDC first to see if the gears are still working.   Since someone yanked the electronics,  I'm gonna hazard a guess that the gears are shot.  This brings me back to my original suggestion of getting an Atlas IR trolley and swapping the shells, swapping back to the original shell after the holidays...  :-) 

FYI, the thicker red and thin blue wire are the motor leads.  The thin black wires are ground, and thin red wires go to the pickups.
