Bob passed away this week. In his retirement he volunteered scratchbuilding naval models for the US Naval Academy Museum, when my friend cleaned out Bobs apartment, he found this scratch built model, none of the family wanted it, so it’s now mine. 90E306E0-31CE-44CB-9910-321CC518382B3AF31130-8825-4085-AE3D-CB4DD714E737

Thanks...yeah, Bob he was a great modeler, even the suspension on the carriage works!

Did a little research, DeWitt Clinton was a Governor or New York and a US Senator, and he was largely responsible for the construction of the Erie Canal.

The Locomotive was the 4th steam locomotive built in the US, and first to operate in New York State for the Mohawk and Hudson Railroad. It began operation in 1831. Their is a replica of the Dewitt Clinton at the Henry Ford museum.

Bob was born and raised on Brooklyn, Ny, probably why he chose to make the model.

Anyhow a classy piece, that looks great in my trainroom. As I get older and my elders are passing, their trains find there way to me.
