Nice job as the RR evolves you will find all kinds of places and ideas to integrate the sensor as I did on my RR and for me it has worked consistently for crossings etc..

Nice job getting it into the track work.....  but what does it do? Can it talk to other sensors or a main control center. 

That's great Alex, just a little paint on that big gray piece and it'll blend right in.

Here's an Atlas installation the simple way.  Just remove the rails, knock all the nubs off the top, and slip it under the Atlas track.  With the cork roadbed and the ties removed, it was a perfect fit.  A little ballast tossed in to get the effect, a little more work and it'll be practically invisible.  It's interesting that the spacing of the Fastrack ties is just about the same as Atlas.

Thank you all for the nice comments, this really is a fun accessory.

GRJ very nice install, but the reason why i took the electronics out of the the Lionel fast track, is if the electronics should fail and i have to replace the unit, i can simply slide the unit out without taking the track apart .  Once i unplug the cables, The entire unit can slide out from either side under the track.

What's this about the electronics failing?  Have you ever known Lionel electronics to fail?

I don't fault your installation Alex, just suggesting an alternative method of installation.  FWIW, unless you glue the ballast down, this slides out as well.  We cut a hole in the benchwork to reach the cables from the bottom to unplug them.

Worked out perfectly.  I like the way you made this look almost invisible!
