Subject line pretty much says it. I have an ALCO that is beautiful and about the only defect is the Santa Fe decal on the front is flaking off. Any way to stop this?

You can use microsol to place the decal back into place. Let it dry then use pledge with futureshine over the set decal to lock it in place. I also recommend you get a small brush to apply these solvents.
Agree 100% with PRR......Pledge with Future is what I have used going on 30 years now. Get a brush for the Pledge/Future and use it for NOTHING else.
So the decal doesn't need to be put back into place, it's just flaking off, with some chunks simply missing. So not sure if I should use the Microsol - to what end? I assume I can just paint some pledge/Future on the remaining decal, as is, and then let it dry? Do you buff afterwards? Is the Pledge noticeable on the painted areas?
Pledge/Future is a good grade gloss clear acrylic coating. If the surface it is applied to is dead flat you may see the gloss. Applied sparingly it can blend in well.
The purpose of the micro Sol is to ply the decal back over it's rough surface to stick. Once that is done, the pledge with futureshine is the glue that will hold it in place-BETTER than micro set or other decal glues. An the pledge with futureshine is much cheaper than any of the other stuff.
Thanks, ya'll - after your suggestions, I checked You Tube and found PLENTY of modelers that recommend exactly the same solution. Guess I'll be doing some shopping for the Micro Sol and Pledge Future shortly!
