My friend who owns a train shop out here in California has many customers who buy trains because they are going to build their dream layout but never do.  I used to be one of those customers until I finally came to grips with my dream layout being beyond my financial and creative capabilities. After realizing my limitations I built a layout that that I was capable of and I love it.  I still dream of building a bigger better layout but until that happens I am just thankful I have the room that I do for the one I have.  So if you keep dreaming of being a model railroad tycoon, stop dreaming and build what you can it's a lot more fun.

All I can offer for consideration is the viewpoint that creating a layout is a tremendously satisfying creative adventure, no matter how long the journey; plus, I learned a great deal as I was going along.

Secondly, once the layout was (allegedly) "done," it became a personal treasure which has given me a smile every day and is a joy for my wife and me to share with others.

So, you see, it's all good ; at least , in our home it has been.
