what is the current draw indicating on your Z4000 ,Also what is your track signal should be all ten's and have you cleaned your track n engine wheels , everything can make a big difference. Also of your engines your trying are your tethers connectors fully inserted in tenders if they are steam engines?
Alan
Hi Alan
The tracks are clean, track signal is 10, I did a factory reset
i clean the wheel but in touching the roller and wheels still feel something there
not sure if I should use something more than the base stuff to clean?
it’s a diesel
You didn’t tell us what model but, are these old enough to the 5 volt version of PS2? When my 5v PS2 died it did the same thing, ran a couple of inches and stopped until it didn’t run at all.
We need the exact model numbers of the two engines.
Hi Folks Sorry for not responding back earlier
PRR 30-4179-1 and the D&H 30-20021-1
I took the battery out of both
For both it was the 2.4V 700 mA
PRR was AAA and the D&H was AA
Chances are the pickups have corrosion. Clean the roller to pin area with an electrical contact cleaner, and lubricate with conductive oil. If wheels are clean and track too, that should resolve issue. IF not they may need to be replaced. G
Added note to GGG comment. The steel pin that holds the roller in place, can corrode, not visible to the eye. A liberal application of a corrosion removing solvent, (?? WD 40?? ) and then a conductive grease or oil. Standard third (middle) rail, electrical, was two roller pick-ups. There are some models with (4) roller pick-ups, center rail.
Additional note: New out of the box, my Atlas RS1, had an excessive about of paint, on the wheel flanges, that had to be removed. Moving electrical contacts, by nature are problematic, IMO, Mike CT.
Thanks GGG and Mike CT
i will go what you said and soak it in WD40
i am thinking it cannot hurt to order extra rollers
I open to see if connections are cut or lose had that issue before but everything looks good
it does start and move a little and stops it sounds like after a rotation on the roller it’s cannot get contact
then you push it and it starts again and stops a few inches
Hi folks
I want to say thank you the PRR is now working
the D&H is still having issues
it goes a few feet and stops
