Hello everybody, I hope everyone is doing well!
I'm writing because I want to see if anyone might have some insight on an issue that I'm having with my new Imperial Daylight that just came via FedEx today.
For starters, my MTH DCS unit and TIU is still on its way via UPS, so I'm having to use a remote commander to access basic PS3 functions for the time being.
What's happening is, well, nothing really! I put the locomotive gently on the tracks and made sure everything was good to go, applied power to the track and attempted to start the engine up on the commander remote. However, the engine would not start up.
I attempted to see if this was a drawbar issue since I had to swap out the short drawbar that the engine was installed with for the longer one to negotiate my O-31 curves. This, however resulted in the same start up issue as before, so I switched the drawbar back out to the longer one.
I also wanted to see if the commander receiver/remote was to blame, so I took the Daylight off of the tracks and replaced it with a different engine. Upon doing this and hitting the start up key on the remote, the engine started up and began puffing smoke like everything was working just fine. As a result, the commander unit seems to be in working order.
Upon putting the Daylight back on the tracks and applying power for the 3rd time, the train actually kicked on... However, it started up in a random sequence of sounds, smoke, and with no response to my key presses on the remote. After shutting power off to get the engine to shut down, I turned the power back on again. Of course, now the locomotive was silent again and refused to start up.
This is very peculiar, and I'm not too sure what's to blame. I really hope it's something that I can fix because I'd hate to send this off for service. I had to wait a whole year for this baby to come in too!
Anybody have any thoughts as to what might be to blame?
