I believe there may have been a post on this a while ago, but cannot seem to find it. I have a Lionel NKP 765 where the back up light does not function. It is the new style with the small board wired to the light in the tender. It has been replace and seems to have failed again. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

This was a defect with the legacy berk tenders, the led for the backup light needs a resistor in the line. Mine went out in my PM berk shortly after I got it. I emailed Lionel customer service and they sent me a replacement which had a resistor in the line the original did not have. Its been about 2 years now and its been fine ever since.
My Pere Marquette tender light went blink crazy on arrival. I contacted Lionel and they sent me a replacement light. After some time that one started blinking. My Polar Express tender did the same thing. I contacted Lionel about both and was told there were no more replacement lights/boards for these, but that they could give me an RA# to send them in for repair. Well, I'd rather have no tender light then to be without them, so I took the lights out...for now.

Exact same problem here
Good information!

mtnhi7.....isn't there a diode in the circuit? Or a resistor? I had thought the original reason the LED burned out was that one of these components was inadvertently left out of the circuit.

With the report of Lionel no longer able to provide replacements, can someone draw up a circuit for these back up light?
