Ives 301 semophore

Restoring a ives 301 semophore upper light dont work what is a good wire size to replace th original wires. Its going to need a repaint of everything. Only original paint of what very little is left is on the pole. Is it better to leave the flags inplace to repaint. Are there suppose to be speed nuts and bolt at base if so is there a good place to get replacments.

Use 22 gauge copper wire. (Insulated of course.)
