This set has a #31engine, and the cars look more suited to the engine.

This is one of the big quirks of tinplate and O-gauge trains: disparate sizes of equipment and lack of scale. I trade cars and engines around to try to get the same general proportions of equipment in the same train. All part of the fun.

Great pics. Thank you for taking time out to do this. Interesting the #30 has fours pieces of rolling to the #31's three pieces, yet the #31 has more rolling resistance due to the double bogies. However the #30 has more weight to pull. Maybe it shows how perfectly the clockwork mechanism is balanced to the load.

And you are so right Ace, part of the fun it is. Think I'll relax and enjoy the train ride.
