1) PPLX Hoppers

Pennsylvania Power and Light Hoppers can be seen throughout the state of Pennsylvania and other surrounding states. Two types of hoppers have been owned by PPLX, both of which Lionel has models of. While some 100 ton PPLX hoppers have been produced by Lionel over the years, they have worn very uncommon paint schemes that were only used in the late 60's/early 70's.

This is a 100 ton PPLX hopper. These cars were very common throughout the days of Conrail, and can still occasionally be seen today.

This is PPLX's modern counterpart to their 100 ton hoppers. These rotary dump coal hoppers make up 99% of PPLX's current roster of hoppers.

2) Norfolk Southern TopGon

These cars are a necessity for Norfolk Southern's transportation commitments. TopGons were recently brought to HO scale by BLMA models, and I think many of us would love to see them in O scale as well.

And if that's not enough, here are two special versions of Norfolk Southern's TopGons.

Hopefully Lionel will continue to produce great products like they have for the last few years. These would be two great additions to the O Scale lineup.

Atlas Model Railroad Company just bought BLMA so the Norfolk Southern TOP GON gondolas would be something to also request Atlas to produce.

The people at Lionel had the Die-Cast Metal three-bay, open-top hoppers produced in all those Norfolk Southern Heritage Style paint schemes, instead of everyday paint schemes that the railroads used. It is hard to figure out what they might have made in China.

Since they have the Detroit Edison DETX  bathtub coal gondolas being released sometime soon, more coal gondolas with actual lettering and colors might be possible.
