Just ordered an MTH Premier GG1 from 2007

It is NOS. Before even applying power to it, what should I do so I don't fry any electronics.

The 2007V2 catalog had 20-5611-1 and 20-5612-1 plus a few sold in sets. They have 3V boards so you are not likely to damage it if you put it on the track to charge the battery. But at 16 years old, the battery is probably no good. I would replace it with a BCR2.
