K-line caboose conversion to 2 rail trucks

I don't know, but I suppose that would work. However, why not just fit the existing trucks with 2 rail wheel sets. Trim down the bolster if it needs to be lowered.

Does not look like there's a car bolster under that caboose, so you may have to add something like that to use 2-rail trucks under this car for mounting the trucks as well as to end up with the car at a useful height.

As I recall, you need to fabricate a bolster for the K-Line cabooses. You didn't say which model it is, but the Atlas Caboose trucks should work fine as you can shave the mount down a bit if you have to. If it's an older woodsided model, the MTH wood beam trucks should work for you. They're designed to mount to MTH cars which don't have conventional bolsters and might work under a K-line car.

  The caboose is a 613-8012 BC Rail Caboose K-line lighted interior and smoke unit. I posted pictures under attachments earlier .

Dale, do the K-line trucks have a flat bolster joining the sideframes together?  If they have a raised section like MTH or Atlas, yes - replace them with Atlas trucks.  Anyway, those K-line trucks are a twin coil-spring freight car type.  The Atlas caboose trucks with leaf springs come in 2 types - friction bearing or roller-bearing journals.  Choose the one you prefer for the era you're modelling.  

I asked about bolsters above.  If the bolsters are 'flat', regular 2-rail trucks should work, trouble is I don't know what is currently available for cabooses - anybody know?  If I had to do it now I'd probably replace the coil springs in a freight car truck with Pecos River p/b leaf springs which I have in an old, dusty bag.  Yup, they're no longer made.  

When you've sorted out the trucks(!), get the Kadees on and look at some good pics of the caboose ends to see if adding a bit of end-sill detail would put a smile back on your face .  Oh and let us know how you did, it's got a good superstructure!

I looked at the k-line trucks and they do have a raised section. I looked on rr picture archives and it showed bc rail caboose #1875 with roller bearing trucks with leaf springs so I will order from Atlas #7068 roller bearing trucks with leaf springs and electrical pickup.While I have the caboose apart, I think I will replace the bulbs for LEDs and eliminate the smoke unit. Thank you all for the great info and I will post update of my caboose project.
