Not that I need any engines, but I've got the Empire State Express bug. I'm sticking with traditional/semi-scale and O27 stuff. No scale in my future. Too much invested in the smaller stuff and no room. Two of my three mainlines on my new layout has 42" and 54" curves, so I can handle the engines that require 31" curves.

I don't own any streamlined engines. I know it doesn't compare to the new scale ESE, but I'm thinking about the new or gently used semi-scale version. I see a major dealer has one new-old-stock with TMCC for about $350.

I don't intend to buy the 15" matching passenger cars. I can't justify that additional $300 cost. I'm thinking this engine would look fine with my Lionel postwar O27 streamlines (from the UP set and the Texas Special set).

Recommendations?

I had the K-line 20th Century Dreyfus locomotive and matching 15" cars.  Both were well done, and the loco ran great, but they were out of proportion with each other.  The cars have a scale height and width, but the locomotive had 'selective compression'.  Sold them several years ago.  Wish I had kept the locomotive; it would have fit well with Railking cars.

Interesting. Maybe the engine would look better with the O27 Lionel streamliners then. They're generic Lionel Lines, and none of my family or guests would see the road mismatch.
