Did a drop in replacement of a Lionel O-27 switch w/ a K-Line, brand new out of the box. All went as planned.  Only problem is that when the frog is set to turnout, a train coming into the straight leg of the switch above the turnout will not activate the nonderailing feature until after the 1st truck has passed over the frog (not as soon as the truck hits the switch); then the points snap, and I get a green.  Any ideas? - the track pins are the same as the way the Lionel was installed.

Does it do it with all engines and cars? Does the curved route behave the same? If you roll a car by hand and stop it before it gets to the frog will the switch throw eventually? Is the switch wired for track power or fixed voltage? If it's wired for track voltage, is the little jumper clean and tightly connected?

Just a few ideas,
