Theydid make both scale and traditional sized products. You need to look at the boxes to see what is what.

Si I guess I will just continue buying MTH..

What did plastic did K-Line use?
Amd what plastic is RMT using?
While K-Line did start out in a market similiar to Williams, during their last five or so years in business they made many items (especially steam engines and aluminum passenger cars) that were, at least, up to par with the Lionel and MTH offerings at the time.

PennsyK4,
Walter at RMT said that "RMT has upgraded to a more durable plastic composition that has tested very well under multiple connect/disconnect operations." This was posted in a Super Snap track thread on this board. I believe they are probably using an ABS plastic. That is only a guess.
K-Line has a very rich, and interesting history.
Their product line ran the gamut from scale and semi-scale pieces to traditional sized 0 gauge, and smaller 027 sized cars.
The 027 cars and their first steam engines were created from original Marx molds.
The K-Line Collectors Guide, goes into great detail on this.
It is becoming hard to find, but does pop up on the bay from time to time.
