Before moving to NJ in 2007, I took my post war 665 to Nicholas Smith for a tune-up. It was getting a little sluggish after 45+ years. It was returned the day before I moved. We recently moved in to another house, and the trains were set up temporarily until I design a new layout. For Christmas, I unpacked the post war trains. This was the 1st run since rebuilding the 665 (stored away for 10 yrs.) It runs like a brand new locomotive! I don't remember it crawling that slow even when I was a kid. Thought I'd post a quick video.

As a scale-y Hi-Railer, I almost didn't look at this thread, but as my first loco was a 2055 Santa Fe-style small Hudson twin of your 665 (except for smokebox front and tender style), I thought that I'd look.

What impressed me - but didn't surprise me - was the slow, steady running toward the end of the video; some PW Lionel steamers, this 2055, etc. style in particular, were capable of much besides zoom-zoom running. Not Odyssey-slow, for sure, but very presentable Hi-Rail performance.

I should get my 2055 refreshed, I keep saying. For years it's been a worn down shelf queen after all those miles so long ago (starting Xmas, 1955).
