Hi all, does anyone know where I can get large push buttons that a durable enough for both kids and adults to put into the sides of my layout. I need both momentary and on/off switches. I would prefer buttons with pigtales but pigtails aren't necessary. I have the option of either surface mount or drilling through. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How about going to Home Depot and buying some surface mount doorbell buttons?

Try www.allelectronics.com. The supply all sorts of components. I havnt looked there in the last 2 years, but thats where we got our large, arcade game type , pushbuttons. They come in a variety of colors. The best part is that the current variety has a micro switch for the contacts, so you can change the configuration easily to suit your needs.The Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club in New Lenox , Il. has about 40 of these buttons on the layout for visitors to press. I mounted them in the black plastic project boxes that Radio Shack sells. (Beware of mail order boxes, I found the construction flimsy. Will stick with R.S.) We then mount them to the plexi handg guards with belt keyring clips.
