Is it possible to create a lash up with two similar locomotives? I have 2 Sw1500's with identical road numbers and I am having a difficult time trying to get the lash up to work. I can create the lash up but only one engine will respond in they "created" lash up. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Go into DCS and edit the name of the engine.
You can lashup any 2 PS2/PS3 engines together, even 2 identical engines.
If you aren't using DCS 5.0 you should upgrade to 5.0 if you use lashups, particularly if you're experiencing problems.

is the upgrade available on the MTH web site or do I need to purchase a new TIU?
Yes you go to MTH web site and down load the DCS 5.0 for the TIU and Remote. Make sure all TIU and remotes upgrade to same version. G
When adding Did each engine add with it's own separate ID number.
If not take one off the track and edit the address of the other engine to something different.
I have a variation of this issue. I am using V4.20. I assembled a two unit lashup of two Premier diesels, a GE with the traveling side lights from 2009, and an earlier PS2 CSX AC4400. I run them back to back and the reason is that with a circular layout I want to see either unit lead at various times. When I run the lashup in reverse, the horn and bell from the "lead unit", now running trail, is the one that operates, although the ditch lights operate correctly for the unit running in lead.
So I tried to assemble a second lashup with the CSX unit, normally in trail, as a lead unit, while keeping the original lashup in the remote. (I like the CSX horn better, and it is louder.) When I tried this, the remote seemed to freeze up and would not respond to commands to make the lashup. The right way to do this is for the sounds to be operable for whichever unit is operating in lead, but evidently DCS does not do this.
Do PS3 engines or a later software revision do this? If not, is there another way to make this work?
Hudson,
There's no reason for what you're doing to not work properly, however, it's not really worth troubleshooting this issue until you upgrade your DCS to 5.0. DCS 5.0 has a greatly improved lashup function.
If and when you do upgrade to DCS 5.0, I suggest that you delete and rebuild all of your lashups.
Barry,
What are the differences between V4.20 and V5.0, other than the ability to use a cell phone with the purchase of a few add ons? I just purchased another TIU and handheld loaded with 5.0, but am concerned that the 5.0 rollout had some problems. I was going to load V4.20 into the newly purchased system due to my concerns. The V4.20 seems to work well with almost everything I want to do.....
DCS 5.0 is the most bug-free release of DCS ever. In addition to the ability to use the DCS App, the software has a completely redeveloped lashup function and several nasty bugs in DCS 4.20 were also squished. The remaining handful of bugs are either relatively minor or haalready been corrected in the current DCS beta software.
Further, it's not a good idea to operate with different DCS versions in different remotes and/or TIUs on the same layout.
Barry,
Thank you. It looks like I should upgrade the 4.20 to 5.0. I would not mix different DCS versions on the same layout.
