I don't know about the rest, but I enjoy seeing the many photos with kids, and their wide smiles, grins, laughs, and twinkle in their eyes as they watch the trains or accessories operating. These are the future of our hobby, and seeing the photos, Model Trains will be here for a long time after we're gone. Keep posting them mom and dads, and grandparents.

We always enjoy young people who come to visit the layout. They are typically enthralled.
Neighbors Grandkids were over today, I had planned to paint but what the heck, trains were waiting to be fired up and kids were grinning

They are the future and they will inherit our trains someday
The look on my 2-year old's face when I run trains is priceless. He absolutely loves them. It was great yesterday finally getting some track laid on my new, rebuilt layout and being able to run trains again.
My Grandson of 4yrs is a master with my ZW, he was here yesterday with his sister of 2yrs teaching her how to run the trains. My wife gets mad because they run right past her to PopPop and the trains.

My friends grandson was visiting from out of town & came over to see the trains. He sat there for 2 hours just mesmerized. Never moved. It was unbelievable to watch. Of coarse neither one of us thought to take a photo.
since the first day my daughter saw a HUGE train layout, she hasnt stopped talking about it. She was sooo excited, and hasnt stopped talking about it since then.
Both my kids still run trains regularly at age 12. Here are some of our favorite moments.
Proudly displaying showing off some old trains for our display case.
A ride in a real Diesel Engine
Our trip on the Polar Express in Durango
My son just finished building this section of the bench work
Santa just delivered my sons GG-1
I've always wanted a Chessie Diesel engine. After 11 years of doing this hobby, I still don't have one. Seems I always focus on what engine the kids would like next. Knowing this, my daughter drew this picture and gave it to me for my birthday.
I would not be involved in this hobby at all if it were not for my kids!!!

The best things to have children involved with your layout.
1. Have the layout at eye level, even if you have to use a stool.
2. They will get more hands on time with a Lionel Chief Plus Engine.
3. Snacks
4. Train Hats & Wooden Whistles.
5. Train Books on a table
Have Fun & Good Luck
We had a great turnout this weekend at a train show and the kids were the stars of the show!
Check out our thread posted elsewhere for a lot of terrific photos.

I love to see young kids around a train layout. I would like it even more to see some teenagers looking at train layouts but they are very few.
The young kids get that smile on their faces when they first see the layout and that makes me smile.

Even my 1 yr old Grand daughter loves the trains but she has a hard time not grabbing the cars if they are going slow.
Grand kids and nieces / nephews of all ages go right to the den layout when they get in the house.
The buildings and people always get moved around but I don't care, they aren't hurting anything and I can always move them back.
