I have a section of my layout where 6 tracks go under the station. Very difficult to identify track numbers.
is anybody aware of small (1”-1.5” ) number that has an LED light ? Like a panel light used in electronic control panels.

Not clear what you're after.
Are you saying a single LED indicator that can change its value between 1,2,3,4,5,6? In which case a so-called 7-segment LED display can be configured to do so.
Or are you saying you saying six independent LED indicators which can be all on, none on, or any combination? In which case you need numbered lenses that can be back-lit by an LED.
Perhaps a bit more detail on how you see this being used might spawn additional ideas.
Stan- thanks for your response. Ideally, I need single numbers 1...2...3...4. Etc.
to place above a row or tracks that need identification . The simpler , the better.
Fastrack switches come with numbered inserts for identifying the controllers. You could maybe rig them up with leds either sepaately or grouped in a small enclosure?

Thanks- will take a look at them. No idea is bad in this crazy hobby
Brendan- thanks. That’s the best solution yet !
Stan ,can you give me more information on the single numbered lenses that can be back lit with an LED ? ,i have 4 independent loops ,& all i have is a piece of tape on the side of the fast track to tell which loop it is ,i would like to do something like you have suggested & if possible where i can get them . I would like to try & get these lights that i can hook up to track power ,so that when i the track is powered up the led's would come on .
I think it will take some luck to find/buy JUST the key cap in onesy-twosy quantities. What I would look for is a surplus/junk/broken illuminated keypad and then extract the key caps that you need. Illuminated keypads are used everywhere! Then place an LED in your choice of color/size behind the key cap.
If you don't want to mess around at the component level (resistors, diodes, etc.), then Evan Designs sells pre-wired LEDs in a variety of sizes and colors that can be powered by train AC.
Stan- thanks for suggestion. Will look into that. Other idea I came up with was to buy small colored plexiglass numbers and just glue a small LED to the back of it.
there are many companies out there that will custom make plexiglass numbers and letters in miniature sizes.
Stan thanks for responding ,i was thinking about this after i posted my question to you & i figured i will probably have to fabricate something myself ,& yes i have dealt with Evan Designs many times before ,i always have some of his lights on hand ,so now i will start thinking about how i want to do this ,i don't see this being a major problem as i enjoy doing these small projects .
As per stan2004's pictures, I see universal tv remote controls for sale all over, sometimes at the dollar store... certainly at Walmart and similar for next to nothing. They're certainly available cheap, and since you wouldn't care if they work on your tv, you'd only be shopping for an appropriate size & shape of button. The fact that the buttons are designed to be backlit, makes me think your end product would look the most realistic.

Tom ,i will look at your suggestion ,thanks.
