I am planning to install LEDs on a tinplate bridge and will use LED strips for simplicity. All the LED strips I have seen or purchased have an overall strip width of 8mm regardless of the size of the LED. I would really like a strip width of 5mm. Are LED strips (the flat ones) commonly make in widths of less than 8mm? I may have to paint the strips to match the bridge if I cannot find narrow ones.

I suspect that's unlikely, and I've never seen them. They're all flexible circuits with multiple traces running the length of the strip. They also have to have fairly wide traces as they design them to be daisy-chained, so the traces are sized for a few amps of current.
Found several listed on the river. Search for "super narrow LED strips", you'll get strips that are 3mm wide.
No wonder I didn't see them, I don't look at that stuff for $30+! They are sure expensive!
5mm only $8+ by comparison.
Mr. Fixit, let us know what you do; post photos.
Nice catch, Tracker John.
Actually, with a little looking, I did find them for $14.30 for a 5 Meter 3mm Wide Warm White LED Strip. I could probably swallow that if I needed one that narrow.

Thank you very much for the help! It all depends on the search criteria. I found a 4mm wide 5 meter long strip for a little under $8. I think that will work fine. I will post pictures when the bridge is finished.
