I'm interested in using LED bulbs for my switches. Can I just replace the standard issue bulbs with LEDs without a big fuss? Where can I purchase the LEDs? I want LEDs that fit under the light dome if the controller. Your input will be appreciated.

CACHOW,
If you are talking about the old 022 Lionel Switches, when I used my 711/072 switches, which take the exact same bulbs, I purchased mine from Town & Country Hobbies and Train Electric LLC, they have both the Bayonet and the Screw in type replacement LED's, and yes you can simply replace the old bulbs with them. Remember to replace the track side Switch Bulb also.

Can you tell me the model numbers of the bulbs you purchased? I will purchase both track side and controller bulbs as well as the lighted lockon bulbs. I plan on using the LEDs that fit beneath the red and green lens caps. Did you use this type? Also, what is your opinion on how the LEDs look compared to the old bulbs? Thanks for your help on this. Much appreciated.

CACHOW,
My old switches are stored away in the attic right now, can't get to them to give you the LED numbers, maybe one of the other members will come on and give you the exact numbers of the LED's. You can call either Town & Country or Train Electrics, and tell them what you are looking for, they will know exactly which LED's you want, they both supply them all the time. The LED's are a might softer light wise, and they looked real good, I never did change the lighted locks ons to LED back then.

These are very high in price if you have 6 or 7 switches each switch need 3 bulbs at 3 bucks each bulb I think I will stay with the old bulbs
Dave is correct. I also purchased some of those bulbs.
Thanks Guys,
Called up Town & Country and I'm all set. They were very helpful as well.

Does anyone have another source for LED replacement bulbs for Postwar equipment like O-22 switches? This link does not work for me.
Also, how do they look compared to the original bulbs? Which color LED looks best - warm white or blue tint?
Thanks
Warm White!!
